When Joan and Sandy MacKenzie from Blantyre in Lanarkshire decided they wanted a new kitchen, they already knew they wanted to use Mulberry Kitchen Design. We had previously installed their daughter’s family’s kitchen, you see, and they were so pleased with the results that we were first on their list.

 The MacKenzies were keen to have a kitchen with a better layout so that Joan could navigate the kitchen with ease despite her arthritis. As well as this, with their daughter Kirsty having moved back to the UK with her family, Joan and Sandy were eager to have a new kitchen that could accommodate their grandchildren.

 Joan and Sandy chose a stunning Burbidge Cambridge Alabaster kitchen, with pewter handles and Axiom granite gloss laminate worktops, which contrasted beautifully with the kitchen units. The MacKenzies had a tough time deciding if they wanted to have tiles or matching splashbacks, but in the end they opted for splashbacks, which we reminded them are easier to clean.

 Mulberry Kitchen Designs fitted with a whole host of great gadgets and appliances to make life easier, such as the Kessebhommer 300 tall pull-out basket with soft closing mechanism, and the bin had three compartments to make recycling that bit easier. Also installed was an integrated Hotpoint built-under fridge and a Hotpoint integrated dishwasher. As well as this, a Hotpoint integrated microwave with grill was installed with a Hotpoint built-in single oven in tall unit. Our team was more than happy to position the oven a bit lower for Joan than usual as she had previously struggled with the height of her oven.

 A Hotpoint 4-burner gas hob was also fitted, with cast iron supports and finally, an integrated extractor was installed for clean look overall. A beautiful Blanco XL deep single bowl sink with Blanco spirex taps completed the kitchen to perfection.

All electric and gas work was completed with gas safe and NICEIC tradesmen, and in under two weeks the MacKenzies had their dream kitchen. They were absolutely delighted with the end result, and we wish them the very best of luck for the years ahead.
