Mr & Mrs Farrell’s Kitchen-Diner
When looking for a new kitchen newly weds Mr and Mrs Farrell knew exactly who to call. They came straight to Mulberry. This was our second project with the Farrell’s as we designed and installed their first kitchen in their flat in Boogeydale, so they knew they were in safe hands!
The couple opted for our popular Remo Dove Grey doors that boast a slick glossy finish. The Remo doors are also handless which adds to the modernity of the room. We paired the glossy Remo doors with our Gris Expo Silestone worktops, which create a lovely contrast and also go perfectly with the medium grey Slate flooring. A graphite Blanco composite sink was also installed, which complimented the Silestone worktops perfectly.
In order to add some real pizazz to the kitchen we cleverly introduced colour through the glass splash back. Francés had a plate that she absolutely adored the colour of and thanks to our countless colour options of glass we were able to get an exact match for the splash back.
The job also involved knocking down an existing wall in to their rarely used dining room. By knocking down the dining room hall we created a real functioning kitchen-diner that the young family will now be able to enjoy. We were also told that Paul is quite the cook, so now his family can put their feet up and watch the magic from the safe distance that is the dining room table.
The wall that we removed was a load-baring wall so, naturally, everything went through building control and our NICEIC approved electrician signed off all electrics, which is a building regulations requirement. The room was then fully plastered, a new floor was laid and we also replaced all of the facings and skirting’s. To finish, we painted the walls bright white and hung Frances’s choice of retro wallpaper.
We particularly love the juxtaposition between modern and retro in this room. The kitchen, with its sleek glossy doors and glass splash back, is particularly modern but sits perfectly alongside the retro vibe of the dining room. We can’t take all of the credit for the dining room however, as Francés’s clearly has a keen eye for interior design. There is a very obvious separation between dining room and kitchen with Francés’s choice of bold colours, mix ‘n’ match chairs and natural wood furnishings. Bravo Francés!
We were extremely pleased with this finished result, as were the Farrell’s. It was a big thumbs up from the whole family, especially the boss young Freddie.
Paul told us he often takes a walk in at night just to admire his new kitchen! We’re glad to hear it Paul!
