Mr & Mrs Mccafferty

A country kitchen Mr and Mrs McCafferty from Strathaven had just purchased a beautiful new cottage with huge grounds as they were looking for a quiet countryside escape. They were keen to have a traditional style kitchen to go with their new home, and so they settled on our team to install the kitchen of their dreams.

The McCaffertys settled on a gorgeous Milbourne Chalk kitchen from Second Nature, alongside rustic timber worktops, which really added to the countryside vibe. The team oiled the worktops many times and sanded them down until they were as smooth as glass.

The layout of their new kitchen was unusual as it was an extension to the cottage, and as a result there were two supporting columns at either side of the room. To get around this, the team removed the radiator and incorporated the large hallway into the kitchen, adding in several storage units – with one of these holding the fridge freezer. The new storage units also contain a glass cupboard and an open unit that serves well as a bookshelf for Mrs McCafferty’s cookbooks, as she is a keen cook.

To illuminate the space, we added in brand new LED spotlights and under lights that serve as both perfect task lighting and ambient lighting when needed. The McCaffertys also chose a beautiful Blanco Belfast sink with traditional Victorian style lever taps, beautiful textured square knob handles and a tall wine rack running upwards beside their units, creating a unique and interesting kitchen space overall.

Brand new appliances were installed to update the rustic kitchen into the modern age. A single Hotpoint electric oven, a full size Hotpoint integrated dishwasher and an integrated Hotpoint washer drier were all fitted, as well as a 50/50 frost free Hotpoint fridge freeze and a Hotpoint induction hob.

Finally, the kitchen was finished with a stunning solid oak floor that looks fantastic and really complements the traditional style of the kitchen.

Overall, the McCaffertys were extremely happy with the final job and were thrilled with the high standard of work achieved by the team. They were especially happy with the quality of their kitchen units and fronts, and were quick to mention that they would have no hesitation recommending us to future customers. We sincerely hope they enjoy their new kitchen in their beautiful new cottage!
