Kevin and Patricia Kearns

Patricia and Kevin Kearns from East Kilbride heard about Mulberry Kitchen Designs design via a recommendation from a friend. We were not the only company they were getting quotes from though. In fact, we were quoting against one of the biggest kitchen companies in the area.

However, the Kearns said they had decided they would choose us almost from the outset. We were able to offer lots of practical advice and the customer was impressed with our knowledge and standards. Price was another deciding factor, and our quote was considerably less than that of others. And that wasn’t the only thing that impressed Mr and Mrs Kearns. The fact that we were offering to complete the whole project, rather than sub-contract some of the work out to complete the building and decorating aspects of the job, was another factor which made Mr and Mrs Kearns choose us.

We showed our new clients our product range and they opted for Milbourne chalk doors from Second Nature. These shaker style doors are part of our classic collection. They boast a chunky frame with a textured finish and woodgrain effect and are very substantial at 22mm thick. They also chose Mistral solid surface worktops. These are aesthetically pleasing as they are inspired by stone and quartz, but the acrylic-based material used for the solid surfaces means they are a practical option. The couple opted for a Blanco undercount sink and drainer grooves were added to the Mistral surfaces. Appliances are an important part of a functioning and smart kitchen. In this instance, Mr and Mrs Kearns selected high quality Miele appliances.

Our service included much more than simply fitting the kitchen. The Kearns wanted to create a kitchen diner from two separate rooms, so it was necessary for us to remove the dividing wall and block an existing doorway into the living room. Every wall was replastered and LED spotlights and under lights were fitted. New facings and skirting boards were fitted to add to the quality finish of the project. The old meter board was replaced as Kevin, a fireman, was concerned that the old one was a potential fire hazard.

Charcoal slate tile effect flooring was chosen and this complemented their choice of kitchen design perfectly and made the room feel comfortable and homely while also being contemporary and smart. Two designer radiators were added in the new kitchen diner; a tall one behind the main door and a smaller one below the window. The walls of the new room were tiled with Laura Ashley tiles. These additional jobs were all part of the service we offer when fitting a new kitchen, as we aim to leave the customer entirely satisfied with the work completed on their home.

One job that we do not usually undertake is fitting bookcases. However, we made an exception for this lovely family. They were so happy with the kitchen that they asked us to return to their home and fit bookcases in their living room! We completed the work and, once again, Mr and Mrs Kearns, and their son Sean, were delighted with the results and wrote us a glowing review
